I origionally found this film on special offer in WHSmith in 1990 and decided to buy it because it had Andy Warhol's name on it and because the cover featured the image of an intiguing and alluring looking young woman. I hadn't heard of Edie Sedgewick at this point; passe rock fakers 'The Cult' released a forgettable single, bearing the same alluring image and entitled 'Ciao Edie', around this time; fortunatley for me their artless rocking made little impression on me (or anyone else) and so failed ... Edith Sedgwick was a very special girl. Her arresting beauty and privileged upbringing as a member of high society appealed to Andy Warhol who soon took her under his (black angel's death) wing in Manhattan where she shone as the brightest superstar in 1960s New York - in fact, Warhol first coined the phrase 'superstar' about her - but it all came crashing down to earth and she died, prematurely, in a haze of drugs in Santa Barbera in 1971.
